If we talk about Latgale, first of all we have to mention church of Aglona. It is a catholic church. Many calls it as main church of Latvia. One of the reason why it's so is because every year on the 15th of August piligrams arrive in Aglona from near and far away.

Of course we can not forget about other churches of Latgale, because they also have their own beauty and history which often is quite interesting. Besides of Aglona church there are such churches like Asere lutheran church, St. Ludvig's church, Indrica catholic church and many others.

If we talk about castles I have to mention ruins of Koknese castle, Garsene palace, Plater's castle and vecsaliena estate castle. As you alredy understood these are most popular castles.

Sometimes the reason why people are going to Latgale is lakes. Latgale is region of Latvia where is biggest amount of lakes. Many of those lakes are not big, but some of them are quite impressive. For example biggest lakes of Latgale are Lubanas and Raznas. Of course I have to remark that Lubānas and Raznas lakes are biggest lakes of Latvia. They are 82 and 57,6 square kilometres large. And at last Latgale have the deepest lake of Latvia - Dridzis. It is 65,1m deep.

If you want to see ostriches you do not have to go to Australia or the Riga Zoo. This can be done also in the homested "Viesturi", Robeznieki parish, Kraslava district. A very kind owner will always find time to inform you about ostriches and their peculiarities.
